I'm quitting DeviantArt. I don't want anybody to feel offended by what I'm writing here, because the people who I met here, who gave me their support and who spent their time watching my works and sharing their opinions with me, will have a warm place in my heart and memory forever. But I cannot pretend I don't see what this community is turning into. Thousands and thousands of people patting each other's shoulders, saying how pretty / nice /wonderful etc. your photos / drawings / poems / are, without any deeper thought, any contemplation of art, any criticism finally... this just makes me wanna puke. I'm not saying I did not do that. Because I did. Because it was easier, faster, less personal, more appropriate. But I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want pageviews, daily deviations, favourites and comments, because they don't change anything. They don't make me a better artist. They don't make me a better person.
They are not what I need.
I have already mentioned this small group of people who I really consider my 'f r i e n d s from DA' and how important they are for me. If any of you would like to see my newest works, please let me know via e-mail or a note and I'll send you a link to my blog. If anyone felt bad after reading this, I'm sorry, that's really not what I meant.
So... I guess this is goodbye.
I'm wishing you lots of luck and... inspirations.
Don't give up.
Joanna

hope you're well
